South Africa reaches T20 World Cup final for the first time after defeating Afghanistan

South Africa has made history by reaching the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final for the first time after defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets.

In the first semifinal held on Thursday, South Africa secured a historic victory, marking their first appearance in a World Cup final. Previously, they had been eliminated in the semifinals five times in ODIs and twice in T20s.

Chasing a target of 57 runs, South Africa achieved it in 8.5 overs, losing just 1 wicket. Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first at Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad but was bowled out for 56 runs in 11.5 overs.

The second semifinal between England and India will occur tonight, with the final scheduled for Saturday.
