A meeting of the Legislative Parliament scheduled for Thursday afternoon has been postponed until July 27.

Parliament Secretariat in a notice said that the meeting was postponed under special circumstances. Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada was to table the Insurance Bill during the meeting.

Members of the opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress and Naya Shakti had been holding talks since Thursday morning to chalk out protests against the government for not heeding medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC’s demands. The opposition was likely to obstruct proceedings of the House if the meeting had not been postponed.
