Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali says the recent state visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to India has established new foundations for the bilateral ties. He claims its impacts will be seen soon gradually.

“We have risen above from our tradition. The two prime ministers are on the same page that our relationships should be oriented towards economic prosperity and development. And, there are strong and stable governments in both the countries now,” Gyawali informs Onlinekhabar in an interview.

“[Indian PM Narendra] Modi says he was inspired by the prosperity vision that our prime minister shared. He now insists that we should cooperate with each other for prosperity. Just wait and watch, you will see its impacts soon.”

Meanwhile, Gyawali claims the Nepali delegation presented itself as a ‘bold and visionary’ team in dealings with India this time so that it also clearly communicated its assertions on all issues discussed.

“We have finally passed through political transition and we have a new government with a strong people’s mandate,” he says, “Now, we will not talk with India about politics, we will talk about economic issues only. The visit has established this orientation clearly.”

“Yes, we cannot forget our past, but will not get stuck in it.”
