Nepali officials discuss labour pact draft with Oman

UAE, January 28

Nepali officials have begun discussions on a memorandum of understanding that Nepal plans to sign with Oman in order to facilitate the employment of Nepali workers in the Gulf country.

The officials presented Nepal’s suggestions on the draft of the agreement that the Muscat government had sent around two months ago.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Oman, Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal, says the bilateral discussion was held at the Ministry of Manpower in Muscat on Sunday. The discussion will be finalised within next few days.

If everything goes well as planned, a ministerial visit will be carried out and the memorandum will be signed, she adds.

Meanwhile, the visiting technical team of Nepal, led by Joint Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire is scheduled to come to the UAE on Tuesday for bilateral discussions about labour issues on Thursday and Friday.
