Nepal Parliament has been promoting rule of law, says Mahara

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, has stated that Parliament of Nepal has been protecting and promoting rule of law, human rights, equality and other democratic values.

Addressing the 140th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Doha of Qatar on Monday, Mahara said, “As a representative of the people, Parliament can establish positive changes through law formulation, budgetary control and inspection of the government’s plan and programmes.”

During the session, Mahara delivered a lecture on parliament as a forum to consolidate education, security and rule of law for peace.

Meanwhile, the leader of the lower house of the federal legislative also appreciated the role of IPU in the establishment of peace and democratic changes across the world.

Total 1,600 delegates representing 167 countries are taking part in the event that began this Saturday in Doha.
