Hotel Annapurna to deploy staff to keep Durbar Marg clean

Kathmandu, October 2

Hotel Annapurna, one of the oldest hotels in the city, has vowed to keep the area around the hotel clean and also maintain the greenery throughout the year. It will also deploy its staff to clean the Durbar Marg area, the hotel announced on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2017.

World Tourism Day was observed, like every other year, on 27 September, to invite everyone to think about economic, social and environmental development.  Hotel Annapurna also organised a walkathon amongst its staff to help spread the word.

Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation has been celebrating the World Tourism Day on September 27. This date was chosen as on September 27, 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism.

This year’s theme, ‘Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development’, pleads to travel, enjoy and respect. The purpose is to engage tourists in making responsible choices when travelling and have a positive impact on the destinations they visit.
