Xi to meet President Bhandari, PM, other leaders in Nepal

Kathmandu, October 11

The schedule of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s two-day state visit to Nepal has been made public.

President Xi will arrive in Kathmandu at 4:30 pm and he will be received by both Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

After landing in Kathmandu, President Xi will then visit President Bhandari after which he will attend a dinner organised for him and the Chinese delegation.

President Xi on Sunday will then visit PM KP Sharma Oli at his residence. The two sides will also sign bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two nations.

President Xi will also meet with NCP co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal. There are also talks of him meeting with opposition party president Sher Bahadur Deuba before flying back to China at 1 pm on Sunday.

The visit by a Chinese President after a hiatus of 23 years to Nepal is expected to further strengthen ties between the two neighbouring countries.

Saturday

4:30 PM: Landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport

6:30 PM: Meeting with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas

7:30 PM: Banquet in President Xi’s honour at Hotel Soaltee

Sunday

10:30 AM: Meeting with Nepali Communist Party Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal

11:10 AM: Meeting with Prime Minister K P Oli. The signing of bilateral agreements

01:00 PM: Return to China
