Kathmandu, January 19
The federal government of Nepal has physical property worth Rs 1 trillion and 800 million, according to recent records.
The Financial Comptroller General Office has revealed the data.
The office around two years ago had launched an effort to calculate the worth of the government’s physical property including land and buildings. However, it is suspected that the details are still not complete yet.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has been found to have the property of the highest value (Rs 27.44 billion) whereas the Indigenous Nationalities Commission has the smallest amount of property (worth Rs 1.7 million).
Recently, the office has developed a public property management system to keep integrated records of the property and manage them. However, complaints are rife that public property mismanagement is a growing problem in the country.
