Kathmandu, November 9

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli says his party is ready to amend the constitution to ensure rights of Madheshi people.

He accuses Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba of trying to endorse the disputed constitution amendment that could possibly support interests of India.

Oli says the UML gives the guarantee of constitution amendment for Madheshi people, saying Deuba might be giving the similar guarantee for “people across the border.”

Addressing a programme under the electioneering of UML’s House of Representatives candidate for Kathmandu-4, Rajan Bhattarai, Oli said Deuba failed to confidently hold talks with India in any issue. He said thousands of trucks and containers were blocked at the border owing to the government’s inability to settle some trade issues with India.

“You need to check the position of your glasses four times and stretch your shirt five times when you utter a single word with India,” Oli suggested that Deuba lacked confidence in diplomatic dealings, “If you had said anything, the queue would have ended; but you cannot even speak with the ambassador.”

Oli said after the announcement of results of upcoming elections, the PM’s party would be restricted to the opposition.
