Voting briefly halted as candidates’ representatives clash at Achham voting centre

Achham, December 7

Voting was briefly halted at a poll centre in Sanphebagar of Achham district on Thursday owing to a clash between representatives of CPN-UML and Nepali Congress.

Congress’ representative Tej Bahadur Bada sustained injuries in the clash at Betalmandau Secondary School voting centre.

Election observer Ekindra Mahato says the two parties engaged in the clash over whether to impose a rule about letting people above 70 years of age only take a helper to cast ballots.

Earlier, the parties had agreed that people below the age of 70 have to cast their ballots on their own.
