Pokhara, May 20
Counting of votes for Pokhara Metropolis has been put off following claims by the Maoist Centre, the Nepali Congress and the RPP that ‘forged’ ballot papers were found inside the boxes.
Local Maoist and NC leaders claim that the ‘forged’ papers have two signatures of the returning officer and the UML’s electoral symbol has been stamped on all of them. They say that they found at least 8-10 such votes during the count.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission’s local officers denied that the votes were forged.
The NC and the Maoists have demanded re-polling in wards where there have been controversy.
