Kathmandu, August 8
Work on 37 MW Upper Trishuli III-B hydropower project in Rasuwa and Nuwakot will be completed by April 2021, officials say.
Mohan Prasad Gautam, the General Manager of the project informed that the 35 per cent work of the project has been completed. “Around 724m of the 3.8 km long tunnel has been dug. We have been digging in four different places to make sure we complete this project on time,” informed Gautam.
As this project is a cascade of Upper Trishuli III-A, NEA will not have to construct a dam. Gautam also informed that a gateway has already been prepared which will help bring water from Trishuli III-A. Energy Minister Barsaman Pun has been regularly monitoring the project’s progress along with NEA chief Kulman Ghising, who regularly visits the site.
“This is a project which is being built with the people’s money. PM KP Sharma Oli and Minister Pun have been regularly asking me about its progress,” shared Ghising. Gautam further added that construction work on powerhouse, surge tank and penstock will be completed as soon as the monsoon subsides.
