The government is administering Vitamin A capsules to children aged six months to five years throughout the country on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 18-19).

Nutrition Division of the Department of Health Services is also administering deworming drugs to children aged 1-5 years.
Through this nationwide campaign, which the government conducts twice a year (Kartik 2-3 and Baishakh 6-7), the division aims to administer Vitamin A and deworming drugs to 33 lakh children this year.

The division is also launching other nutrition-related programmes in 14 earthquake-affected districts.

As part of the programmes, health workers will distribute iron capsules and conduct health checkups to establish how many pregnant women, new mothers and under-fives are suffering from malnutrition, division Chief Giri Raj Subedi informed.
Starting this year, we are also conducting a nationwide survey to check the status of vitamin deficiency in children in the country, Subedi said. He said findings of the survey will be out by the end of this year (2073 BS).
