The US President Donald Trump has declared himself the acting president of Venezuela.
Trump announced by posting a photo on his own social media platform, Truth Social. The image he shared carried the caption “Acting President of Venezuela.”
The United States took action against Venezuela on January 3, taking President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, into custody and bringing them to the US.
Maduro is currently facing trial in the United States on charges related to arms and drug trafficking. At present, Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has been appointed as the acting president.
