The Tourist Police Nepal and Tourist Guide Association of Nepal (TURGAN) have checked on tourist guide licenses.

TURGAN said that it is checking the licenses of tourist guides in the heritage areas of Kathmandu. Previously, the association had urged all tourist guides to renew their licenses.

The association has also urged guides to accompany tourists only after showing their license cards and has emphasised checking their licenses. The association has requested all travel and trekking companies to only take tourists on tours in Nepal with licensed and legitimate tour guides.

It has been a trend where licensed guides are unemployed while guides without licenses are working as tour guides. So the association has been strictly checking the license of tourist guides.

Tourist police and the association have conducted checks in Boudha, Basantapur, and Pashupatinath.
