Nepal Tourism Board

Kathmandu, September 8

Nepal Tourism Board has formed a task force to suggest how the country’s tourism industry can be revitalised after the Covid-19 crisis.

The task force includes representatives from both the private and public sectors whereas the board’s Chief Executive Officer Dhananjay Regmi himself leads the panel. Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal’s General Manager Rajan Pokhrel and NTB’s former CEO Deepak Raj Joshi are also members.

Likewise, some pioneers of the country’s tourism industry have been appointed expert advisors to the team. They include hoteliers Ambika Shrestha and Basanta Mishra, Buddha Air’s Managing Director Birendra Bahadur Basnet, former NTB CEO Prachanda Man Shrestha, and Yeti Airline’s Executive Chairman Sonam Sherpa.

The task force has been mandated to prepare an action plan for ‘survival’ and ‘revival’ of the industry. It has been asked to study international practices of the revitalisation of tourism after different crises before making conclusions.
