Kathmandu, August 27
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has stated that 27 foreign tourists have been rescued from the Timure and Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa, citing information from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
In its latest situation update on the Bhote Koshi flash flood, NTB said the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, along with the Tourist Police and other tourism stakeholders, continues to work on verifying the whereabouts and safety of tourists and travellers who were in or passing through the areas affected by Wednesday’s devastating flood.
According to the list released by NTB, current as of 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, the rescued tourists include eight whose nationalities have not yet been confirmed. They include Gong Fu (25), Punganang Fui (45), Fang Nuotau (48), Zhang Chuan (70), Tian Yu (35), Zinzhi Giang (52), Zhang Curg (43), and Ziang Gang (31).
Four South Korean nationals were also rescued: Taeyoon Kia (41), Taehoon Yum (57), Jongho Lim (56), and Jaepok Yang (56).
Two Italian nationals, Lotumuw Stecano (30) and Valurntina Piccintui (37), were among those rescued, along with two American nationals, Anjana Raja (52) and Pattabiraman Venkatesan (55).
The largest group rescued was from India, with 13 nationals listed: Thiruma Bhaalan (62), Balani Yappan (69), Ratna Kumar (65), Rananaga Sawai (68), Raghunardan (56), Sima Ranjan (46), Naghu Kabir Dosh (54), Maran Gobinda Spanu (54), Satyai Dhakham (47), Bijaya Bakhu (54), and Panga Sawai (68), among others.
