Kathmandu, August 20
A two-and-a-half-year-old boy who had been missing for two days in a community forest east of Nawalparasi has been rescued safely. Shiwan Tamang, two and a half, went missing from Gaindakot Municipality-14, Bhagar, in eastern Nawalparasi, and was found safe in a community forest two days later.
At 7 am on August 18, Shiwan’s grandmother, Hem Kumari Ale, had gone to the Shankhadevi Community Forest near their home to pick mushrooms. When she returned home, Shiwan was not there.
After residents and neighbours searched the forest area without finding him, they filed a report at the Area Police Office.
Teams from the Area Police Office Gaindakot, Area Police Office Rajahar, and a temporary police post at Beldiya were mobilised alongside residents to search for Shiwan.
During the search, Shiwan was found at 10 am on Thursday near the head of the Bhagar stream, within the Shankhadevi Community Forest in Gaindakot Municipality-14.
Police said the boy, rescued safely, was handed over to relatives after completing the necessary procedures.
