Three days’ rain leaves Biratnagar waterlogged

A street in Biratnagar is inundated after three days of rain in July 2019.

Biratnagar, July 11

The core city area of Province 1 capital Biratnagar has turned waterlogged after continuous rain for past three days.

The main entrance of Koshi Zonal Hospital in the city has been blocked due to the rainwater. Likewise, the Martyrs’ Stadium has also been inundated.

The stadium was set to host the Chief Minister’s Cup from Thursday. However, the event venue was transferred to Dharan after the rainfall.

Repairing of roads and sewage under the Regional Urban Development Project is underway in the city currently. Locals blame the project for obstructing the sewage system and leaving the city inundated.

Meanwhile, mayor Bhim Parajuli assured that the city government would open the blockages soon.
