Sushil Gyawali, chief executive officer of National Reconstruction Authority, is submitting a clarification regarding his performance to the Prachanda-led government on Wednesday.

The administration had sought a clarification from Gyawali, describing his performance as unsatisfactory. Apparently, in his clarification, which he is yet to submit, Gyawali has defended himself and accused government agencies of not cooperating with the authority, which was constituted for reconstruction of quake-ravaged infrastructure, including houses, and distribution of relief to quake victims.

Political leadership shows eagerness to shoulder responsibility for the good work that NEA has done, Gyawali has pointed, adding that the same leadership distances itself from any role whatsoever if NRA faces difficulties in carrying out reconstruction works.

There’s no reason why the government should seek clarifications from me, Gyawali has claimed in his clarification.

Gyawali, according to a source, has pointed that National Directives Committee under Prime Minister Prachanda, in a minute, had described NEA’s performance (under his leadership) as satisfactory.

The minute states: Despite adversities in signing grant agreements and relief distribution, NRA, in coordination with ministries concerned and implementing agencies, has done a commendable job.

In his clarification, Gyawali has listed tasks that he performed while working as NRA CEO in course of a year.

Gyawali has taken the act of seeking clarification as a politically-motivated move aimed at removing him from the office. He has held consultations regarding legal recourse that he will take if the government chooses to fire him.
