Tension runs high at Pyuthan hospital as new mother dies

Pyuthan, February 28

Tension ran high at the Pyuthan Hospital on Sunday after a 24-year-old woman died after giving birth to a child.

Claiming that, Anisha MC Thapa, a resident of Tushara, Jhimruk rural municipality-7 of the district, died due to the doctor’s negligence, the locals staged a demonstration on the hospital premises chanting slogans against the hospital and the doctors.

Meanwhile, the family has said it will not collect the body until their demand is met.

The woman had given birth to a child on Thursday after a C-section. Later, the doctors had performed a second operation on her on Saturday.

Following the operation, the hospital referred the case to Butwal for further treatment, but she breathed last on the way in the wee hours today, according to the deceased’s husband Sudan Thapa.
