Kathmandu, June 14

Owing to the drivers’ strike demanding Covid-19 vaccines for them as soon as possible, no tanker has supplied fuel to any fuel station in the Bagmati province that also includes the Kathmandu valley on Monday also.

The Nepal Petroleum Tanker Driver Union had begun the strike on Sunday claiming the government ignored their safety.

“As the strike gets longer, we are worried that there could be a fuel crisis here,” informs Abhishek Thakur, the chief of the Nepal Oil Corporation’s Bagmati provincial depot in Thankot of Kathmandu.

The corporation has been making efforts to ensure vaccines for the drivers as soon as possible but has not achieved any success yet, according to him.

The union’s president Ishwar Lama, however, says the strike will not end unless there is a guarantee of the vaccines.

He says around 2,400 drivers and their assistants are waiting for the vaccines.
