Kathmandu, April 12

Unions of staff working at the Supreme Court have accused former chief justices and justices of misusing government facilities including staff and vehicles after their retirement.

It was revealed after a driver, who gets paid from the apex court, was found driving a vehicle belonging to the court for former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha.

The staff snatched the vehicle’s key from driver, Jog Mohan Mahato, and handed it over to the Registrar General. He was at the court today to receive the money to repair his vehicle and refill fuel.

Secretary of the official trade union at the court, Hari Bhattarai, says there are many other former justices who have not surrendered vehicles back to the court after retirement.

The list of such justices includes Surendra Prasad Singh, Om Bhakta Shrestha, Mohan Prasad Sharma, Keshav Prasad Upadhyaya, Hari Prasad Sharma, Dilip Kumar Paudel, Kedar Prasad Giri, Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Khil Raj Regmi, Damodar Prasad Sharma, Ram Kumar Prasad Sah, and Sushila Karki among others.
