Kathmandu, August 31

A full bench of Supreme Court is holding another round of hearing on a writ filed by Nepal Police DIG Nawaraj Silwal. It has been said that the hearing will conclude today.

The petition demanding his promotion to the position of Inspector General is pending for over four months.

A seven-member full bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli and justices Om Prakash Mishra, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire, Mira Khadka, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Purushottam Bhandari is hearing the case.

While government attorneys and those appointed by incumbent IG Prakash Aryal have already recorded their statements, advocates of Silwal are taking part in the hearing today.

A writ filed by Silwal’s batch-mate Aryal with a contesting claim is also heard together.
