Sudurpaschim govt to provide Rs 200,000 to families of murdered policemen

The Sudurpaschim provincial government has decided to provide Rs 200,000 to the family of each of the two policemen who were allegedly killed by smugglers in Jugeda of Kailali district earlier this week.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Govinda BK was found dead in the Mohana river on Sunday whereas the body of constable Ram Bahadur Saud was found around 200 metres away from there on Tuesday. They were missing since Saturday evening while patrolling the area.

A meeting of the provincial council of ministers held on Thursday decided to provide Rs 100,000 to each of the families immediately. The remaining Rs 100,000 will be deposited into a fixed deposit saving account of the children of each cop, informs Financial Affairs and Planning Minister Jhapat Bohara.

Police have arrested eight persons in connection with the incident. Investigators say all eight have confessed to the crime.
