Sudurpaschim allocates over Rs 900 million for Badimalika, Khaptad and hospital upgrades

Bajura, October 12

The Sudurpaschim Province government has allocated Rs 32.5 million for a feasibility study on operating a cable car in Badimalika and Rs 61 million for infrastructure development in Khaptad National Park in the fiscal year 2026/27.

Presenting the provincial budget, Minister for Economic Affairs Chakra Bahadur Malla said the allocation for Badimalika would support a feasibility study for the proposed cable car to promote tourism. The government also plans to initiate a management feasibility study and advance the project under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model through a public-private partnership. Electricity lines will also be extended to the area.

Similarly, Rs 61 million has been allocated to construct a temple and other infrastructure at Khaptad National Park, which borders Bajura, Bajhang, Achham and Doti. The proposed works at Trivenidham include a pagoda-style temple reflecting Sudurpaschim’s identity, a Golden Bridge and electricity line expansion.

The provincial government has also announced plans to upgrade Kolti Basic Hospital in Budhinanda Municipality-2, Bajura, and Gokuleshwar Hospital in Darchula into provincial hospitals. Rs 60 million has been allocated to develop infrastructure and manage human resources for the upgrades.

Kolti Hospital serves residents of four local levels in Bajura, as well as patients from neighbouring districts of Mugu, Humla and Kalikot.
