Student organisations protest suspecting foul play during Ncell’s sale

Kathmandu, December 5

Student organisations close to the ruling coalition and the main opposition party have organised a protest suspecting manipulation in the purchase and sale of shares of Ncell.

All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), an organisation of the UML, protested in front of the Ncell office on Tuesday.

The participants in the demonstration carried ply cards with slogans such as Nationalise Ncell, Investigate the controversial Ncell share sale, etc.

A total of 80 per cent of Ncell’s shares were purchased by SpectraLite Limited, registered in the UK. There have been various speculations going on regarding Ncell’s tax evasion.

Similarly, student organisations close to the ruling coalition have also issued a joint statement against the issue of Ncell’s share purchase and sale.

In a joint statement issued by the presidents of different student organisations affiliated with different political parties have demanded the government to investigate and take action on the recent activities of Ncell.
