The Special Court has ordered Veridos, the German company contracted to print Nepal’s passports, to be released on a regular date without requiring bail.
A bench comprising Special Court members Narayan Paudel and Dilli Ratna Shrestha ordered that Veridos be released on a regular date without requiring it to post any bail amount.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against Veridos, along with officials of the Department of Passports, alleging irregularities in the printing of passports.
After the case was filed, Veridos authorised a Nepali representative to appear on its behalf.
The authorised representative appeared before the Special Court.
Following statements and arguments on whether the accused should be detained, the court ordered the representative to be released on a regular date.
