Snakebite kills woman in Sindhuli

Kathmandu, June 9

A woman died after being bitten by a snake in Sindhuli on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shiva Kumari Karki, 62, of Dudhauli municipality. She was bitten by a snake in her front yard, informed DSP Chiranjivi Dahal.

She was rushed to Snakebite Hospital and was later taken to Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Hospital for treatment where she breathed her last, said Dahal.

The World Health Organization has estimated that about 20,000 persons suffer from snakebites in Nepal every year, resulting in more than 1,000 deaths
