Suspects of an explosion targeting Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa

Kathmandu, December 7

Police say they have arrested six persons on charge of planting an explosive targeting Nepali Congress leader and Kathmandu-4’s House of Representatives candidate Gagan Thapa on Monday.

Thapa among 11 had sustained injuries in the attack on the last day of their poll campaign.

The arrestees Rabi Gole (24), Bichar Man Tamang aka Mukti (24), Mahesh Nepali (30), Bigesh Lama (48), Rajeev Tamang (32) and  Roshan Bista (30), say police.

There were all members of the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led CPN.

Investigation officials have said the Biplav-led party was involved in the Chapali blast among multiple minor explosions in the Kathmandu Valley of late.

A Chinese pistol and four explosives were confiscated from the suspects.
