Kathmandu, November 21
Renowned singer and composer Babul Giri, who had been arrested on the charge of abetment to suicide, has been released on bail.
According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, he was freed after the Kathmandu District Court ordered his release on a bail amount of Rs 300,000. He was released from custody on Wednesday.
Police had initiated an investigation against Giri after singer Neetu Paudel was found dead. She had attempted self-immolation at Giri’s studio in Anamnagar.
Meanwhile, Paudel’s family claimed that the two were in a romantic relationship and that she took her own life after Giri refused to marry her.
