Update: Sindupalchowk bus accident claims 14 lives

Police say that the number of people who have lost their lives in the accident has reached 14.

Of the 14, five had died on the spot while nine died while being taken to Dhulikhel Hospital.

Five people have died and over 40 others have been injured in a bus accident in Sindupalchowk on Friday.

DSP Madhav Kaphle told Onlinekhabar that the accident happened around 9:55 am near Indrawati Rural Municipality as the bus (Ba 2 Kha 2715) fell 60 metres off the road. Four men and one woman have been presumed dead, but their names are yet to be identified.

DSP Kaphle further informed that the injured have been taken to various hospitals. “Nearly everyone is hurt. We have sent the injured to the hospital. The locals of the area have been extremely helpful during the rescue operation,” he added.

DSP Kaphle said that the reason for the accident was still unknown and that the police would soon start an investigation.
