The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has decided that the government will start blocking social media platforms, including Facebook, that are not registered in Nepal starting today. This decision was made in a meeting held today at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, which was attended by Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung.
“The decision to gradually block social media platforms that are not registered will come into effect starting today,” Minister Gurung told Onlinekhabar.
According to him, only social media platforms that complete registration will be allowed to operate.
In a cabinet meeting held on August 25, the council had directed that all social media platforms operating in Nepal must complete registration within one week.
