Hotelier Shreejana Rana becomes the first Nepali to get elected as a Zonta International governor

Kathmandu, July 22

Renowned hotelier Shreejana Rana has been elected the governor of Zonta Club District 25 which covers Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

This is the first time that a Nepali has got the position in Zonta International, a global organisation of women involved in different businesses.

The installation of the governors for the biennium 2022-2024 took place at Zonta International Convention in Hamburg, Germany, on June 28.

“I am truly honoured to lead Zonta Club District 25 as the governor. As per Zonta’s mandate, I am committed to continuing working for women’s empowerment and advocating for their rights, and helping girls and women in the region achieve their full potential,” says Rana.  

Shreejana Rana, a key figure in Nepal’s tourism and hospitality sector, is currently serving as the first woman president of the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Hotel Association of Nepal. 

Meanwhile, speaking at the general meeting of the Zonta Club of Kathmandu on July 17, the Kathmandu club president Ava Shah said, “In less than nine years of chartering the Zonta Club Kathmandu, we have achieved this remarkable milestone, one that makes us all proud and motivates to work even harder under Governor Shreejana Rana’s leadership to promote Zonta’s mission and vision.”
