The Biratnagar Airport station manager of Saurya Airlines, Prakash Paudel, has been arrested at his work station on Sunday as a passenger taking a flight from there to Kathmandu was found to be carrying Rs 5 million in cash that she could not mention the source of.

Resha Shakya Pokharel (33), a resident of Sinamangal of Kathmandu, was arrested at the Kathmandu airport on Saturday in possession of the cash.

Police say Paudel was arrested based on statements given by Shakya Pokharel. Reportedly, Paudel had sent that money.

DSP Deepak Shrestha of the Morang District Police Office in Biratnagar says Paudel has been handed over to the Department of Revenue Investigation.

“Now, we will present him before the court and start the investigation after seeking remand,” the department’s information officer Tanka Prasad Pandey says.
