Kathmandu, September 26

Nepal’s star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who has recently been accused of raping a minor, says the conversations made by people after a complaint has been filed against him have made him mentally imbalanced and it is delaying his return to Nepal.

But, Lamichhane, who has been consistently denying the charge, says he will soon come back home and defend the case legally.

In a long Facebook post on Sunday night, Lamichhane said he was playing honestly for the nation, but some conspiracies were hatched to end his career.

“Moreover, I was portrayed as a criminal just because a fake complaint was filed against me,” Lamichhane said, “This affected me both physically and psychologically.”

On September 9, Lamichhane said he was returning to Nepal soon after the Kathmandu District Court issued a warrant to arrest him and the country’s cricket board suspended him from the team he was captaining. However, he has not been here yet, and immigration has also blacklisted him.

In the first week of September, a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint against Sandeep Lamichhane accusing him of raping her.
