The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series was launched along with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series in the latest Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2023.

The Tab S9 series consists of three tablets, which include Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ and Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

All three tablets have similar designs and performance but differ in physical size, battery and rear camera.

Design and display

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series all have the same design only differing in the display size and battery. All the tablets have a glass front, an aluminium frame and an aluminium back. On each tablet’s back, there is a matte magnetic area just below the rear camera module where you can place the in-box S Pen and also charge it. The finish is very premium on all the tablets.

On the back, the Tab S9 has a single-camera setup whereas the Tab S9+ and the Tab S9 Ultra have a dual-camera setup. On the front, the Tab S9 and the Tab S9+ get a single selfie camera setup whereas the premium Tab S9 Ultra gets a dual selfie camera setup.

All the tablets from the Tab S9 series share the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X display panel. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 features an 11.0-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ steps up the screen size to 12.4 inches while retaining the 120Hz refresh rate and raising the resolution to 1752 x 2800 pixels. The flagship Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has a stunning 14.6-inch display with the same 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1848 x 2960 pixels.

The Tab S9 series tablets, all have IP68 water and dust resistance which is the first water and dust-resistance Galaxy Tablets. Each of them also has Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the front.

Performance and storage

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series all share the same performance. They are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset. The powerful Octa-core CPU configuration comprises a 3.36 GHz Cortex-X3 core, two 2.8 GHz Cortex-A715 cores, two 2.8 GHz Cortex-A710 cores, and three 2.0 GHz Cortex-A510 cores. The Adreno 740 GPU handles the graphics rendering and supports high-quality visuals. For the operating system, all the tablets run on the latest Android 13 with Samsungs own OneUI 5.1.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series offers various RAM and storage options. The Tab S9 comes with 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. The Tab S9+ offers 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage. The flagship Tab S9 Ultra provides 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage, as well as a top-tier option with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

Camera

The cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series are a bit different. The Tab S9 gets a single camera setup on the back and front, which includes a 13MP sensor and a 12MP sensor respectively. The Tab S9+ gets a single selfie camera of 12MP like the Tab S9 and a dual rear camera setup, which includes the same 13MP main camera sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. The top model, Tab S9 Ultra gets a dual selfie camera setup including a 12MP wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide sensor and the same dual camera setup including a 13MP main camera sensor and a 8MP ultrawide sensor like the Tab S9+ on the back.

All the tablets from the S9 series can shoot 4K videos at 30/60 fps and 1080p videos at 30 fps. The camera quality might not be the best ultimate flagship like the S23 series or the foldable ones but are okay enough for detailed photos with the post-processing they do.

Accessories

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets have two accessories that can enhance the use of these tablets. The first one is the new S Pen which you get in the box along with the tablet. The next one is the keyboard case which you have to get separately but is quite handy and can help you with laptop-like work.

The S Pen gets IP68 water and dust protection so the users have to worry less during accidental dropping. The S Pen has a flat side which can be attached to the back of each tablet to charge it.

Battery and others

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series offers a well-rounded audio and connectivity experience. All three tablets are equipped with stereo speakers which are tuned by AKG providing a rich and immersive sound output for multimedia and entertainment.

In terms of connectivity, all three tablets support the latest Wi-Fi standard, including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, ensuring fast and stable internet connectivity. Bluetooth 5.3 with A2DP and LE support allows for seamless wireless connections to peripherals and audio devices.

The tablets come with a USB Type-C 3.2 port, including a magnetic connector, for quick and convenient data transfer and charging. For security and convenience, the tablets feature an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, alongside essential sensors like an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

The Tab S9 series is powered by high-capacity non-removable batteries: 8400 mAh for Tab S9, 10090 mAh for Tab S9+, and 11200 mAh for Tab S9 Ultra, with all supporting 45W wired charging.
