The sixth generation of the Samsung Galaxy Fold; the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is official in Nepal. The foldable smartphone made its way in Nepal alongside its Flip sibling, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6. Both smartphones were officially in the latest Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event joined by other gadgets including the Samsung Galaxy Ring, Samsung Galaxy Watch7, Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro.
Since the first Samsung Galaxy Fold launched in September 2019, the Fold series has always made a headline. From the last generation Fold5, the Fold6 has a few updates in terms of hardware and software. The major changes can be seen in the dimensions, weight, display features, and chipset.
AI has been the major highlight of this year’s Galaxy Event. New features and improvements to the older Galaxy AI features have been unveiled. Many have been eyeing the latest AI features and the upgrade in the build quality of the Fold6.

Design and Display
The design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 has been slightly updated from its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold5. The Fold6 has a boxier design with flat sides and a matte glass finish. It has a slightly wider cover screen for easier one-handed use and a slimmer body. It weighs less than the Fold5 and is also somewhat heavier than the flagship S24 Ultra. The hinge featuring a dual-rail design offers improved dust protection and a completely flat folding experience, reducing the crease by some degree. On the back, the rear camera has the same pill-shaped design.
The cover display of the Fold6 has a slightly increased screen-to-body ratio due to the boxier design and very thin bezels. When unfolded, the main display has an equal bezel all around. The cover display has a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera whereas the inner main display has a under-display selfie camera. The Fold6 features a 7.6-inch main display with a resolution of 2160 x 1856. This display uses Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology supports a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and has a color depth of 16 million colors.
The cover display is 6.3 inches in size with a resolution of 968 x 2376. It also uses Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology and has a colour depth of 16 million colours. Both the cover display and the main display have a peak brightness of 2600 nits. The Fold6 now gets a better IP rating of IP48 dust and water resistance than the Fold5 which has an IPX8 IP rating.
Performance and Storage
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, built on a 4nm process. It features an 8-core CPU configuration, including one 3.39GHz Cortex-X4 core, three 3.1GHz Cortex-A720 cores, two 2.9GHz Cortex-A720 cores and two 2.2GHz Cortex-A520 cores. The foldable smartphone uses an Adreno 750 GPU for graphics processing. The operating system on the Galaxy Z Fold6 is One UI 6.1.1, based on Android 14. It comes with a whopping 7 years of both security updates and software updates.

AI features
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is loaded with AI-powered features that enhance productivity. Note Assist in Samsung Notes offers translation, summaries and auto-formatting for meeting notes and transcribes and translates voice recordings directly in the app. PDFs can be translated and overlaid perfectly, supporting text in images and graphs.
The new Composer feature in Samsung Keyboard generates suggested text based on simple keywords for emails and social media which is based on the user’s tone by analysing previous posts. The S Pen, combined with Galaxy AI, introduces the Sketch to Image feature, which generates image options from sketches or drawings in the Gallery or Note screen.
The Google Gemini app is fully integrated into the Galaxy Z Fold6. By swiping the screen corner or saying “Hey Google,” users can access the AI-powered assistant for help with writing, learning and planning. The Circle to Search has been improved. The feature allows users to perform instant searches by highlighting or tapping on the screen, providing detailed information quickly which was introduced in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Communication has also been enhanced with Interpreter and Live Translate. Interpreter mode displays translations on both the main and cover screens for natural conversations and offers one-way translation for understanding lectures and presentations. Live Translate can translate phone calls in real-time. The Live translate feature is now also available to work with selected third-party apps.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is equipped with a triple rear camera system. It includes a 50MP main camera with an F1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with an F2.2 aperture and a 10MP telephoto camera with an F2.4 aperture. The rear cameras feature autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS). The rear camera system supports a 3x optical zoom, an optical-quality 2x zoom enabled by the Adaptive Pixel sensor and a digital zoom of up to 30x.
For video recording, the rear camera of the Galaxy Z Fold6 supports UHD 8K videos at 30 fps, 4K videos at 60 and 30 fps and 1080p videos at 60 and 120 fps. Slow-motion video recording is supported at 240 fps and 120 fps in Full HD (FHD) and 120 fps in Ultra HD (UHD).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 features two selfie cameras. It includes a 4 MP under-display camera on the main display with an F1.8 aperture and a 10 MP cover display camera with an F2.2 aperture. The cover display selfie camera supports video recording at 4K resolution at 30/60 fps and 1080p resolution at 30/60 fps. The rear cameras can also be used to click detailed selfies using the cover display for reference.
The ProVisual Engine on the Galaxy Z Fold6 includes Photo Assist for professional-grade content creation, Portrait Studio for various portrait styles and Instant Slow-mo for smoothly slowing down videos.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is powered by a 4400 mAh battery. It supports 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. For connectivity, the Galaxy Z Fold6 includes Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax across 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands for fast and reliable internet access and Bluetooth 5.3 for connection with various compatible devices. It has support for both LTE and 5G networks. It features dual SIM support, with options for SIM 1 + SIM 2, SIM 1 + eSIM or Dual eSIM configurations.
In terms of audio, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is equipped with stereo speakers for high-quality sound. It also includes a range of sensors: an accelerometer, barometer, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, light sensor and proximity sensor.
