Sajha Party to field Nirupama Yadav for Kathmandu Deputy Mayor

Kathmandu, April 23

The Rabindra Mishra-led Sajha Party has fielded advocate Nirupama Yadav for Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The party, which missed the deadline to register itself with the Election Commission, is planning to field its leaders as independent candidates.

It has already announced that former Secretary Kishore Thapa will vie for the post of KMC Mayor.

The 39-year-old advocate Yadav is a member of the party’s Central Coordination Committee. She has been in legal practice for the last 15 years.

Her candidacy has been viewed as “a new dimension that will establish a strong emotional connection between Terai and Kathmandu, ” the party said in a statement.

The party said it had tried to form an alliance for the position of deputy mayor and was in communication with other political forces. But, after the possibility of partnership turned slimmer, Yadav announced the candidacy, the statement informed.
