Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has formed a taskforce to amend the statute governing its parliamentary party.
According to RSP parliamentary party Deputy Leader Ganesh Parajuli, the taskforce has been formed under the leadership of the party’s chief whip.
“The statute amendment taskforce has been formed under the leadership of the chief whip to amend the parliamentary party statute as necessary,” Parajuli said.
The taskforce has been given seven days to propose necessary amendments to the RSP parliamentary party statute and prepare related procedures.
The proposed amendments will focus on parliamentary conduct and the responsibilities of lawmakers, including maintaining the dignity of the House, fulfilling responsibilities towards the public, strengthening the voice of the opposition and making the lawmaking process more effective.
The decision comes after RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane held discussions with the party’s lawmakers and ministers on parliamentary conduct and style on Wednesday.
Parajuli provided details about the taskforce following the meeting.
The RSP has recently been focusing on making its lawmakers more accountable for their attendance and conduct in Parliament, including through a system requiring lawmakers who are absent or arrive late to explain their reasons.
