Kathmandu, August 19
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairman Rabi Lamichhane has begun discussions with government ministers and the party’s MPs.
After signs of disagreement emerged between government ministers and party MPs during a House of Representatives session, chairman Lamichhane held discussions with them today.
An MP said the ongoing meeting at the party’s parliamentary office would review the recent growing friction between the government and party MPs, among other issues.
Disagreement has been growing within RSP over MPs’ language in parliament and their public conduct, as there has reportedly been a rising tendency to disregard the need for such conduct to remain dignified.
At Tuesday’s House of Representatives session, MP Ashika Tamang, dissatisfied with an answer given by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, tried to ask a follow-up question. However, Speaker D.P. Aryal cautioned her to be mindful of parliamentary decorum and dignity. After Speaker Aryal did not give her time to speak, MP Tamang left the House session.
