RPP statute controversy: Janamorcha says party should be allowed to retain its agenda

Kathmandu, March 19

The Chitra Bahadur KC-led Rastriya Janamorcha, which has been advocating against federalism, says RPP should be allowed to express its agenda in its statute.

The statement comes as two days after the Election Commission decided to remove ‘Hindu state’ and ‘monarchy’ from the pro-royalist party’s statute.

The Janamorcha said in a statement that political parties have their agenda and that may not always concur with the ideals of the Constitution. But that does not mean that the Election Commission can alter a political party’s charter, the party added.
