The report of the parliamentary investigation committee formed by the government to probe embezzlement in cooperative institutions has been made public. The House of Representatives published the investigation committee’s report on its website on Thursday.
The investigation committee, led by UML MP Surya Thapa, recommended action against Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, Chairperson of Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd., member Kumar Ramtel, and former Managing Director of the company and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, along with board member Chhaviraj Joshi, for illegally investing cooperative funds in Gorkha Media.
The committee clearly identified that funds from Surya Darshan, Supreme, Swarnalakshmi, Sahara, and Sano Paila cooperatives were unlawfully channelled into Gorkha Media. The report recommends taking action against those involved in the decision-making process and management.
