Redmi 13C: The budget option gets a few decent upgrades

Redmi has launched its popular budget offering the Redmi 13C which is the successor of the Redmi 12C. The 13C has a new design, fingerprint sensor, glass protection and display. The 10C, 11C, and 12C, the latest budget offerings in the lineup, have become some of the best-selling smartphones in Nepal.

Design and Display

The design of the Redmi 13C has been updated from the Redmi 12C. The smartphone now has a flat back with a new camera layout. The back and the frame are made up of plastic. The back has a shiny matte finish while the frame has a shiny finish. The camera module is square, featuring two camera rings. The top ring houses the main camera, while the bottom one accommodates the macro and auxiliary sensors.

The Redmi 13C has a 6.74″ Dot Drop display with a resolution of 1,600×720 and a pixel density of 260 ppi. It uses an IPS LCD panel and features a brightness of 450 nits (typ), reaching 600 nits with HBM. It supports a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, Reading mode, and DC dimming. The display is safeguarded by Corning® Gorilla® Glass and holds TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free certifications.

Performance and Storage

The Redmi 13C uses the same processor as the Redmi 12C, the MediaTek Helio G85 processor. The chipset features an octa-core CPU which includes 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55. The graphics processing is handled by the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. It runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14 operating system.

As for the memory and storage, it has two RAM options of 4GB and 6GB which have been paired with one storage option of 128GB. It also has a dedicated SD card slot which supports up to 1TB of storage.

Camera

The Redmi 13C is equipped with a dual rear camera system. The primary 50MP camera with a 5P lens and f/1.8 aperture delivers decent detailed images. The other is a 2MP macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture and an auxiliary lens for added depth. The rear camera has many features such as film, HDR, Night mode, and Portrait mode, and a 50MP mode. Additionally, it supports video recording options of 1080P at 30fps and 720P at 30fps.

The Redmi 13C’s front camera has an 8MP resolution and f/2.0 aperture. It features film mode, HDR mode, Soft-light ring, Portrait mode and Time-lapse mode. The front camera supports video recording of 1080P and 720P at 30fps.

Battery and Others

The Redmi 13C has a 5000mAh battery with 18W wired charging support. Its connectivity includes 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and dual SIM capability.

As for sensors, it has sensors like the virtual proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and electronic compass. The fingerprint sensor is now on the power button. For audio, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack with a mono speaker.

The Redmi 13C is available in four colours; Midnight Black, Navy Blue, Glacier White, and Clover Green.

As for price the Redmi 13C is expected to cost around Rs 15,500 for the 4/128GB option and Rs 16,500 for the 6/128GB option in Nepal.
