Kathmandu, July 5

The death toll in a bus accident in the Ramechhap district of central Nepal has reached 13.

The bus (Ba 3 Kha 8396) had fallen off the road at Lubhughat this morning, killing five men and four women on the spot, according to Raj Kumar Thing, the Ramechhap District Police Office chief.

In addition, four people died during treatment at the Dhulikhel hospital, informs DSP Hari Khatiwada of the Kavre District Police Office.

Local officials say 23 others have sustained injuries and have been sent to Kathmandu, Dhulikhel and Banepa for further treatment.

Of them, three have been airlifted to Kathmandu, informs Gita Bista Chaulagain, the Sunapati rural municipality vice-chairperson.

Ramechhap bus accident kills 6

Kathmandu, July 5

At least six persons died in a bus accident in the Ramechhap district of central Nepal on Tuesday morning.

The Kathmandu-bound bus had fallen off the road near the border of Sunapati and Khandadevi rural municipalities of the district this morning.

Chief District Officer Deepak Kumar Pahadi says the local security officials have launched a rescue mission, which is currently underway.

He says the officials are trying to airlift the critically injured.

As detailed information is still awaited and rescue efforts are underway, the death toll may change, according to him.
