Rainstorm likely in next 2 days, but it won’t be disastrous: Met officials

File: Rainfall in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, April 5

Meteorologists have predicted that many parts of the country are likely to witness a rainstorm in next two days as winds of conflicting nature are active in the atmosphere.

They, however, maintain that it will not be as disastrous as it was in Bara and Parsa districts of southern Nepal on Sunday. Total 28 persons were killed in the disaster in the two districts.

Subas Rimal, an official at the Meteorological Forecasting Division, says the easterly wind and the westerly winds are active in the surface and the upper level of atmosphere respectively. The interaction between them will result in the storm.

This is why, Kathmandu and many parts of the country witnessed brief rains on Friday morning, according to him.

“The sporadic rainfall will continue across the country for next two days,” he adds.
