Pulsar Sports Award: Bhandari and Gurung win best player female and male

Kathmandu, July 2

Footballer Sabitra Bhandari and para-glider Yogesh Gurung have won the best player female and male respectively at the NSJF Pulsar Sports award held at the Academy Hall on Tuesday.

Similarly, Yogesh Bhattarai was announced the best coach of the year as he coached Nepal’s paragliding team to a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Bhattarai’s team was also declared the team of the year in the annual sports award.

The best young player of the year was awarded to Ajit Kumar Yadav for his performance Asian Youth Games in 2018.

Blind cricket Mankesi Chaudary won the para-athlete of the year where was footballer Rohit Chand was given a special award for winning the league in Indonesia with Persija Jakarta.

The people’s choice award was given to volleyball’s Reshma Bhandari who received 32 per cent of the total votes followed by Sabitra who came a close second.

This year NSJF also honoured Asian sports journalist Amzad Aziz Malik with Asian Journalism Sports Award whereas Hari Bahadur Rokaya was given the life time achievement award.
