Price of gold goes up by Rs 600/tola, equals record

Kathmandu, February 20

The price of gold has shot up by Rs 600/tola on Wednesday and equalled a record, set five years ago.

While regular gold was traded at Rs 62,700, hallmark gold was traded at Rs 63,300. The precious metal was traded at Rs 63,300/tola–the highest ever–on August 28, 2013.

Analysts believe that the ongoing trade war between the US and China, discouraging figures from the stock market across Asia and the weakening of the dollar as well as the Indian currency has pushed investors to buy gold to protect their money.
