President stresses environment conservation on World Environment Day

Kathmandu, June 5

President Bidya Devi Bhandari said everyone should  get involved in environment conservation from the bottom of heart.

Addressing a function organised by the Ministry of Population and Environment on the occasion of World Environment Day today, the President said flora and fauna should be conserved for future generations as well.

“We all should be serious to create a clean environment by addressing the new of balance between development and environment and minimising impacts of climate change.”

She was of the opinion that celebrating the Environment Day had a special significance for Nepal as it is rich in natural resources and biodiversity.

Minister for Environment Jayadev Joshi, Acting Chairperson of the Environment Conservation Committee in Parliament Man Bahadur Bishwakarma and Ministry’s Secretary Bishwanath Oli had also spoken on the occasion.
