President, PM refuse to meet Venezuelan President’s son

Kathmandu, July 16

Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have refused to meet Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s son Nicolas ‘Nicolasito’ Ernesto Maduro Guerra.

Maduro, who also exercises power in favour of the communist government in Venezuela, is in Nepal for past three days. Despite his wish, President Bhandari, PM Oli and some ministers refused to meet them citing he was not invited by the government, according to sources.

Maduro is in Nepal upon an invitation from some youth leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party. During his Kathmandu sojourn, he met NCP chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders and former prime ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, and leaders Bamdev Gautam and Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

The Venezuelan delegation, which leaves on Tuesday, also met a group of NCP lawmakers in Kathmandu on Monday.
